1. Executive Mission & Vision
Arbaeen (الأربعون) is an open-access, scholarly digital repository and interactive learning platform dedicated to the preservation, study, and memorization of Al-Arba'in an-Nawawiyyah (The Forty Hadiths of Imam an-Nawawi). Our fundamental mission is to bridge eighth-century classical Islamic manuscript aesthetics with modern, high-performance web engineering—providing seekers of sacred knowledge worldwide with an experience that is authentic, distraction-free, and pedagogically sound.
Unlike contemporary educational software cluttered with invasive popups, mandatory subscriptions, tracking trackers, or intrusive multimedia noise, Arbaeen adheres to the classical ideal of the manuscript folio (*mushaf*): dignified typography, verified vocalization (*tashkeel*), certified English translations, structured analytical benefits (*fawa'id*), and scientifically proven spaced-repetition memorization tools.
2. Founder & Organizational Leadership
Founder Statement
Arbaeen was founded, engineered, and curated by H M Jubair Alam under the auspices of the Islamic Digital Initiative. Recognizing the profound absence of elegant, fast, and completely privacy-respecting platforms dedicated to fundamental Islamic primers, the initiative set out to build an authoritative digital waqf that honors the Prophetic tradition.
"Our objective is simple yet unyielding: to deliver the timeless words of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the scholarly genius of Imam an-Nawawi in their purest, most elevated format, ensuring that every Muslim—whether a student in a seminary or a professional in their daily commute—can recite, comprehend, and memorize these foundational traditions without hindrance."
3. Scholarly Lineage of Imam Yahya ibn Sharaf an-Nawawi
The author of this revered collection is al-Imam al-Hafiz Abu Zakariyya Muhyi ad-Din Yahya ibn Sharaf an-Nawawi ad-Dimashqi ash-Shafi'i (631–676 AH / 1233–1277 CE). Regarded unanimously across the Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah as one of the towering authorities in both Hadith sciences and Shafi'i jurisprudence, Imam an-Nawawi lived a life defined by extraordinary devotion, asceticism (*zuhd*), and uncompromising scholarship.
Imam an-Nawawi studied in the legendary scholarly circles of Damascus under prominent masters including:
- Ishaq ibn Ahmad al-Maghribi (Chief Teacher at Madrasah ar-Rawahiyyah)
- Abdur-Rahman ibn Nuh al-Maqdisi (Grand Mufti of Damascus)
- Sallar ibn al-Hasan al-Irbili (Master of Usul al-Fiqh and Legal Theory)
- Abu Ishaq Ibrahim ibn Isa al-Muradi al-Andalusi (Master of Hadith Transmission and Sanad Verification)
The tradition of compiling forty hadiths stems from the noble endeavor to synthesize the comprehensive axioms of the faith (*jawami' al-kalim*). While earlier scholars like Ibn as-Salah compiled 26 comprehensive traditions (*Al-Ahadith al-Kulliyyah*), Imam an-Nawawi expanded this core to 42 profound narrations that encompass theology, ethics, social interaction, financial responsibility, and spiritual purification.
4. Textual Authenticity & Verification Methodology
In the transmission of sacred knowledge, fidelity to the original text is an inviolable trust (*amanah*). Every single hadith on Arbaeen has undergone rigorous cross-verification:
| Validation Dimension | Primary Sources & Scholarly Standards | Verification Status |
|---|---|---|
| Arabic Matn & Vocalization | Verified against authoritative critical editions of Matn al-Arba'in published by Darussalam, Maktabah al-Ma'arif, and Mu'assasat ar-Risalah. | 100% Certified |
| Primary Canons | Cross-referenced with Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abi Dawud, Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Sunan an-Nasa'i, and Sunan Ibn Majah. | Authentic Sanad |
| Digital Parity | Synchronized with open scholarly databases at Sunnah.com / Darussalam for reliable numbering and reference links. | Cross-Checked |
| Classical Commentary | Grounded in Sharh al-Arba'in by Ibn Daqiq al-Id and Jami' al-'Ulum wal-Hikam by al-Hafiz Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali. | Orthodox Commentary |
5. Halal Ad Network & Compliance Standards
Arbaeen participates in certified, ethical digital advertising networks (such as HalalSpark and Google AdSense) to sustain server hosting, audio streaming bandwidth, and educational content production. We uphold the strictest standards of ad network compliance:
- Strict Halal & Ethical Filtering: All categories involving interest-bearing financial services (usury/riba), gambling, intoxicants, indecent imagery, fraudulent schemes, or deceptive promotions are strictly blocked.
- Zero Tracking & User Privacy: We do not sell, rent, or collect personal identifiable information (PII). User study progress (memorization checklists and bookmarks) remains strictly within the visitor's local browser via HTML5 localStorage.
- Non-Disruptive Presentation: Advertisements, if displayed, are positioned harmoniously alongside educational text and will never obscure the sacred Arabic matn or disrupt recitation playback.
6. Editorial Governance & Community Feedback
The transmission of Hadith requires ongoing vigilance (*muraja'ah*). If you detect any typographical anomaly, vocalization error, or translation discrepancy, we invite scholars, educators, and students of knowledge to submit corrections via our official Contact & Recitation Report page or by direct email to siddiknurealam1@gmail.com.
